Washington, DC — Dedicated Lanes to Georgetown?

According to the Greater Greater Washington site, one of the plans for the streetcar extension calls for dedicated lanes for almost the entire stretch of K Street (rendering above) from Union Station to Georgetown. Many observers have strongly advocated reserved lanes in order to speed the future line's operation.

Another option with the streetcar operating in mixed traffic has been under consideration, but now is not receiving significant attention.
