Tempe, AZ — FTA Approves Project Development

As reported by progressiverailroading.com, the Federal Transit Administration has appvoed entering project development for the 2.6-mile planned streetcar line in Tempe.
With this approval, Valley Metro can perform the environmental and initial engineering phases for the $130 illion project. The route of the line would be a loop through downtown Tempe, connecting with the successful light rail line to Phoenix.
Over 50% of the needed funding will be provided by a regional transit tax supplemented by Federal pollution improvement funds. The transit tax will also cover operating costs. |
