Tacoma — Ridership Milestone
Rail Transit Online, May 2004
The Tacoma Link
downtown circulator carried its 500,000th passenger on Apr. 24, eight months
after it opened. Weekday boardings on the fare-free, 1.6-mi. (2.57 km) line
are averaging 2,320, exceeding the number predicted for the year 2010.
“Tacoma Link is an incredible success,” Sound Transit Board Chairman/Pierce
County Executive John Ladenburg told the Tacoma Daily Index. “The ridership
for the first eight months of operation has far exceeded our expectations
and only adds to the vibrancy of Tacoma’s downtown.” |
