Sacramento — 25 Year Transit Plan Unveiled

Regional Transit has made public the latest draft version of TransitAction, a multibillion-dollar regional transportation plan that includes an expansive streetcar network and LRT extensions to Elk Grove, Roseville and into adjacent El Dorado County.

The as-yet unfunded program also calls for adopting smart card fare collection and establishing a more substantial bus system, including BRT routes. Streetcar lines would be built downtown on J Street and Broadway, and in West Sacramento, Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova.

Among the financing options that may be considered are sales and fuel tax increases, highway tolls, parking revenue, property assessments and development fees.
