Sacramento — Streetcar Study Approved
Rail Transit Online, August 2010
Sacramento city council voted on July 27 to spend more than $400,000 on a study that would select a route for a planned streetcar line linking the city's downtown with West
Sacramento.
A Request for Qualifications seeking a
consultant to perform the work will be issued before the end of September. The final report should be issued by mid-summer 2011, after which a comprehensive downtown circulation study will be undertaken using data from
previous master plan studies focused on
transit, pedestrian circulation, bikeway development and parking needs.
West Sacramento has already determined a route for its end of the streetcar line from city hall, across Tower Bridge to Old Sacramento.
