Rock Hill is just 23 miles southwest of Charlotte, N.C., just across the South Carolina state line and it's the site of a proposal for a Knowledge Park development.

A developer says a streetcar line would be the best way to link the project to downtown Rock Hill, according to the heraldonline.com site. A leadership group met Wednesday to discuss transportation options. "Much of the focus, though, was on the benefits of a permanent rail line and the need for Winthrop University to embrace the project."

HDR consulting of Charlotte is updating information about transit for the 23-acre Knowledge Park site near the university. "It is updating that study with more specific information on what’s planned for the Bleachery site, as well as information on cities which have tried a streetcar line as an economic development tool."
