Traffic Signal Fix Requested

The Journal Record reported that within days of the streetcar opening it was becoming apparent that traffic signals were hindering the streetcars and making it hard for them to maintain their schedule. A citizen oversight committee is asking the City Council to allocate $450,000 from remaining funds raised for the MAPS 3 program that funded the streetcar and other projects. The funds would allow connecting 39 downtown signals to advanced software that could adjust cycles to favor streetcars.

Sunday Service to be Retained

Channel 9 news reports the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority Board voted to continue streetcar operations on Sundays. During the first month of streetcar operation officials monitored Sunday ridership to see if it was worth making permanent. Their conclusion is that is worthwhile and will implement full 7 am to 10 pm hours starting in April.
