Ogden, UT — Grant Sought for Downtown Circulator
Rail Transit Online, February 2010
The City of Ogden has filed an application for an FTA grant to help build a downtown streetcar circulator loop. The project would be just over two miles (3.2 km) long and include 12 stops, starting at the Intermodal Hub on 23rd Street and Wall Avenue and continuing up 23rd to Lincoln Avenue, along
25th Street to Washington Boulevard and then back to the Hub on 20th Street.
Up to $6 million in matching funds would have to be contributed by the Weber Area Council of Governments (WACOG) using revenue from a voter-approved 0.25-percent sales and use tax. Planners are calling for
biodiesel-fueled heritage replica streetcars to operate the line.
A separate proposal for a streetcar line linking Weber State University and McKay-Dee Hospital Center is still active; the two lines would share some downtown trackage.
