Milwaukee — Extension to be Wireless

The Milwaukee streetcar’s extension along Fourth Street to a new arena will differ from other parts of the line in that there wil be no overhead wire. Also the streetcars will operate in dedicated lanes of the street.

The city ihas applied for a federal grant to support the $40 million line. If funding is in place soon, the line could being operation in spring or summer 2020.

Plans call for the line to run between St. Paul and Highland Avenue, mostly along Fourth Street. It would link the future downtown arena, convention center and The Shops of Grand Avenue to the rest of the downtown streetcar system.
