Miami — Midtown Streetcar
Rail Transit Online, January 2005
The Miami City Commission has approved a $613,000 study of a proposed
heritage streetcar line that would eventually link the Performing Arts
Center and the Design District. The initial segment would be built though
Midtown Miami, a large residential and retail development in the Wynwood
neighborhood that’s now under construction at a former rail yard between
Northeast 29th and 36th streets. The study will be funded by the city’s
half-cent transportation sales tax, although financing for actual
construction hasn’t yet been identified. |
