Little Rock — Free Fares
August 2017
Rides on the heritage streetcar line in Little Rock and North Little Rock will remain free through the end of this year to build ridership on the system, the arkansas online site reports.
The Rock Region Metro board voted on August 15, 2017 to continue the promotional fare to encourage more locals to ride the line. After 12 years of operation, ridership had slipped caused in part by the six month closure of the Broadway Bridge and other construction related closures.
In June of 2017 ridership was 15,300 compared to 7,900 riders the prior year, showing the positive effect of the free fares. |
