Whitehorse, Yukon Territories
Though the theme of this site is the use of heritage trolleys and modern
streetcars in urban settings, this small operation in the distant Yukon is
included to show how interest in heritage trolley technology stretches to
seemingly unlikely locations.
In Whitehorse, a narrow gauge trolley from Lisbon, Portugal is operated along
riverfront tracks of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad. Pending installation of
overhead wire, the car is powered by a towed/pushed generator coupled to the
car. Plans exist to erect overhead wire and extend the line.
