Tucson ― Delivery Delay
December 2012
Despite assurances received a month earlier that the city's first car would be delivered in February, United Streetcar has now admitted that the first Tucson streetcar will not even begin testing in Oregon until February due to delays in production of cars for Portland.
Late delivery of the Tucson cars, if the date is not delayed any further, implies that opening of the streetcar line could be pushed back from October 2013 until mid-2014.
Under the terms of Tucson's agreement with United Streetcar, the firm could be assessed late fees of $250 a day for the first 90 days, then $1,200 a day thereafter. |
