Seattle — Streetcars Wrong Gauge?
July 2018
A press report in late July claimed that the mayor's office said streetcars for the now-suspended Center City Connector would be the wrong gauge and size for the Seattle system. The claims were quickly rebutted as nonsense but raised questions as to why the mayor would make such weak claimes. Speculation spread that it was an attempt by the mayor to kill the project, while sitting on a consultant's report, promised for June, that would determine the project's feasibility after cost estimates had increased.
