New Orleans — Cemeteries Terminal Meeting

New Orleans Regional Transit Authority [RTA] wants to build a new northern terminal for the Canal Street streetcar line to avoid traffic hazards for riders and a public meeting was held on April 22 for potential disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) subcontractors to discuss the $9 million proposal, The Times-Picayune reports.

DBEs are small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged people, including minorities, women and the physical disabled. The RTA has a target of 35 percent DBE participation on the federally funded Cemeteries Transit Center project.
