Dallas — McKinney Streetcar Extension Contract

The Dallas City Council has authorized an $8.4-million contract with Gibson & Associates, Inc. for construction of the Olive Street Extension to the McKinney Avenue Trolley.

The project includes placing track on the west side of Olive Street from a connection with the existing line on McKinney to a southern terminus near the DART Transit Mall at Bryan Street.

The new infrastructure will accommodate both the McKinney Avenue
Transit Authority's vintage trolleys and a modern streetcar network being planned by DART. Funding will come from local sources and the federal urban circulator grant program. The work should be completed by March 2012.
