Dallas — Construction Begins

The Houston Street bridge in Dallas is closing on March 11 to allow construction to begin on the Oak Cliff modern streetcar line. Traffic will be diverted to the parallel Jefferson Boulevard Bridge, which will now carry two way traffic.

The Houston bridge is scheduled to open for traffic again when the streetcar line opens. Federal funding for the line targeted comopletion by October 31, 2014.
