Definition: Tram
The British term for a streetcar or trolley car is "Tram"
and the system on which it operates is referred to as a "Tramway." These terms
are also used by virtually all English-speakers outside of North America, and
are also used in French, Dutch, and occasionally in German.
Many British trams were double deck, so the term may have a
connotation of this type of car, but in fact the term tram has exactly the same
meaning as streetcar or trolley car.
