Washington, DC ― Group Seeks Streetcars for Northern Virginia
Rail Transit Online, December 2009
A coalition of current and former government officials, educators, developers and rail transit supporters have formed the Northern Virginia Streetcar Coalition to promote establishment of a trolley network across the region.
The group believes connecting communities in Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax counties will reduce traffic congestion, make travel easier and spur economic growth; a line along Columbia Pike is already
in advanced planning.
The coalition will be holding regular meetings in the coming months to refine ideas and determine how the various jurisdictions involved can work together to advance the program.
