Kansas City — FONSI for Streetcar
November 2012
Progressive Railroading reported that the Federal Transit Administration issued a "finding of no significant impact" for the proposed streetcar line in Kansas City. This step in the federal funding process essentially amounts to an acceptance of the environmental assessment produced by the city's Public Works Department.
"This finding will allow us to immediately move forward on implementing the starter line once the voter-approved funding is in place," said Second District Councilman Russ Johnson. By the middle of November the city plans to issue an RFP for final design of the streetcar line. |
